What I'm Working On (May Edition)

The month of May is going to be really busy, but then again what month isn't?  Here's a sneak peak of what I'll be working on.

  • Making and mailing invitations for my grandparent's 50th Wedding Anniversary party.  I'm really excited to work on these and I can't wait to share how they turn out.
  • Revamping and changing the look and products in my Etsy store.  I'm currently in "vacation mode" but I'm busy planning and researching some new products and changing directions a little bit.  Stay tuned for a relaunch soon!
  • Organizing and making my craft room a bit more functional.
  • Working on my quilt.
  • Planting and working in our garden.
Happy May everyone!

March

Yup,  I just wrote that.  It is March.  So far 2011 is flying by at lightning speed.

Right now I'm working on a few projects.  I'm making curtains and matching pillows for a family member, in the middle of sewing number bean bags for Belly Boo to play with and scrap booking as much as I can.  As always I'm working on new items for North Street Studio.

On to more exciting news!  We've been working with Belly Boo and trying to get her to use her potty.  Tonight for the first time after her bath she peed on the potty for the first time!!  We are so proud of her!

Creative Streak

So this week I've been feeling the need to get crafty.  I've been working on stocking up on items for my Etsy, as well as working on some new things.  The only problem with getting crafty is that I get frustrated when I can't figure something out right away.  So then I kinda give up.  But anyways, here's what I've been working on:

A custom order of 15 Christmas pins for my grandmother.  Cute, right?

And right now (literally as I type this) I've got a huge batch of newspaper beads going.  I'm recycling old newspapers to make something pretty!  I'll post pictures as soon as some of them are finished.  The only downside to this project is that it takes about 4 days for the beads to dry.  Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

And the hubs wants an iPod case of some sort.  More like a little drawstring bag to carry it back and forth to work than an actual case.  And he wants it to be made from one of his old pairs of dress pants....so I've been investigating that and found a tutorial that I like.  I'll probably be doing that this weekend, too.

Anyways, change of pace!  Here are some cute pictures of Belly Boo! :-)

Weekend Recap!

Here's a recap of the wonderful and exciting (well maybe not exciting) weekend that we had!

  • Saturday we did our weekly shopping run.  After some fantastic chocolate chip pancakes courtesy of the Hubs, we packed up our eco-friendly shopping bags and did our shopping.  First stop was JoAnn Fabrics so I could pick up supplies for my grandmother's pin order (pictures eventually).  While we were there, I had a scavenger hunt through the clearance section and got a few packs of scrap booking stickers and cutouts for 50 cents a piece.  They'll come in quite handy when I start working on the hubs and my scrapbook in November.
    • So then we went to Michaels craft store so the Hubs could get a tie-dye kit.  He tie-dyed a white dress shirt for his school's upcoming spirit week.  Picture to follow later this week.
    • Finally we made it to the farmers market and commissary.  We did amazingly well budget wise and did a celebratory dance.
  • Watched Penn State lose miserably.  Not exactly wonderful or exciting, but it did happen.
  • Got to snuggle and take a nap with Belly Boo on Saturday afternoon.  Nothing is more awesome then watching a baby sleep.
  • Went to church Sunday morning!  Loved the topic of the sermon, but I started to feel not so great halfway though and couldn't wait to get out of there.
    • Left and went to Target to get diapers.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is to not be making weekly trips to Target anymore...AND we got 108 diapers for $20.  Those of you who are parents will totally appreciate the beauty in that.  Haha
  • Had community group and made a new favy meatball recipe.  I'll share it later this week!  They went so quickly.  Had a great time getting to know people from church better!
But the best part of the weekend was that when we came home I had my first Etsy sale!  I was so excited that I nearly jumped off the sofa.  For real.  So excited!

I'm terribly sorry that this is a whole lot of text and no pictures....but I didn't take any this weekend.  Sorry!

Anyways, I hope you all had fantastic weekends of your own!  Did you do anything special?

New Shop Items

Since there are only 87 shopping days until Christmas (yup, I just went there) I've been working hard at bulking up my inventory!  I finally got a chance to take a boatload of pictures today so I can post new items tonight after the gym and dinner.  Here's a collage of some things that will be making their way to the shop later!

And we're now on Facebook!  Just search North Street Studio and become a fan to be on the inside track to new items, sales and special give aways!

I Love Mondays.

I know that most people aren't a fan of Mondays, but I love them.  And yes, I'm totally serious.  For me, they are one of the most productive and fun days of the week.

Like today, for example.  I've done some cleaning, some reading, some hanging out with Belly Boo, but I've also hit my really domestic feeling that I seem to get every fall.

So in addition to starting a yummy dinner which I can't wait to serve tonight, I've got a loaf of French bread going in the bread maker and I made a batch of applesauce using my Mom-mom's fantastic recipe.

Maybe this weekend I'll get some fresh tomatoes and make a big ole batch of tomato sauce to freeze and use throughout the winter.  Sounds good to me.

And if you have an extra minute (on Monday...Tuesday...any day...) check out my Etsy shop that I just opened. I'm more than willing to do custom orders like school colors, holiday pins, and pieces for special occasions like weddings, school dances, graduations, etc.  They make great gifts for birthdays and holidays.

Happy Monday everyone!

What I've Been Working On...

Yo-yo's...lots and lots of yo-yo's.  No, not the toys that you do fun tricks with, but little circles of fabric goodness that look adorable pinned onto sweaters, jackets and purses, headbands and even baby headbands and hair clips.

They'll be appearing on my Etsy shop in a few weeks, along with some other things I've been working on.

Stay tuned!
